This enzyme convertsfolate todihydrofolate (D3) and D4to D3, andD4to D3and D3 to D4in the cell cytoplasm. This reduction in D3 to D4 inhibits the growth of bacteria and prevents their development. D3 is then eliminated through the digestive tract.
Dosage
Azithromycin is taken orally, usually three times per day for a total of seven days. The dosage may be increased to eight times per day or decreased to one times per day based on effectiveness. Take Azithromycin exactly as prescribed. Do not take it with dairy products (eg, milk, yogurt) or antacids (eg, calcium-fortified juices, non-dairy milk). Do not take it with iron or magnesium products. If you have diarrhea after taking Azithromycin for a short time, stop taking it and seek medical help right away. Azithromycin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
